In Memory of
John Howard
-

John William Howard, age 64, of Houston, Texas, passed away at his home and was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven Friday morning, September 29, 2017. Born August 4, 1953, in Dallas, Texas, he was the son of the late H.G. and Lois (Courcier) Howard.
John graduated with his Master’s Degree from Texas Tech University in 1978, thus beginning a lifelong passion for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Upon graduation, he was employed at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Following his work as a CPA, he served in the telecommunications industry for the next forty years. During this time, he held many different and increasingly responsible positions, including controller, Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer. John was well-regarded by his colleagues and well-known for his integrity, honesty, strong work ethic, and passion for excellence.
At age 9, John discovered the game of golf, thus beginning a lifelong love/hate relationship with the sport. Most weekends he could be found on a golf course, and he formed many friendships through his memberships at Inwood, Willow Creek, and High Meadow Ranch. Thanks to his love of fast cars, he was never late to a tee time. He was well-known at these courses for his Texas Tech red and black attire. When not on the course, he enjoyed cheering on his Red Raiders and often had a few choice words for the referees!
However, providing for and enjoying time with his family was John’s number one priority. John was very proud of his two daughters, Kristen and Kelly, and was always supportive of them in every endeavor. His time was well spent with many family vacations and activities. John and Susan’s home was always filled with love and laughter. John had a special love for animals, including many family pets. He was also an excellent story teller with an infectious laugh that will be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Susan Frederickson Howard, along with two children, Kristen Rees & husband Brandon of Cypress, Texas and Kelly Howard of Austin, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Colin Rees and Katherine Rees; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.G. and Lois Howard, and his sister, Sandra Ward.
A visitation for John Howard will be held at Beresford Funeral Service at 13501 Alief Clodine Rd, Houston, TX 77082 at 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 4, 2017. A memorial service will be held at Lakewood United Methodist Church at 11330 Louetta Rd, Houston, TX 77070 at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 5, 2017.
