In Memory of
Larry (Lazarus) Dikran Berberian
-

Larry D. Berberian, 94, passed away in Houston, Texas on May 24, 2017.  He was born in Istanbul, Turkey on August 15, 1922.

Although Armenian, his family moved to Greece when he was three years old. By the age of thirteen he was an upholsterer by trade. He married Despina (Stefanidis) Berberian in 1952. He resided and worked in Brazil before settling in America in the early 1960s.

Larry worked two and three jobs to support his family and with having such strong work ethics that he did not even like taking off when he was ill. He worked at Tepperman's in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as a furniture designer. In 1969, Larry owned a grocery store near the ship channel, "Larry's Drive Inn", where he served many seamen of the port. He was employed as Head of Upholstery for almost ten years at MD Anderson. He also owned a gas station, North Hampton Texaco in Spring, Texas between 1983-1986. He served as a manager at Antone's Po-Boy before retiring.

He spoke seven languages (Greek, English, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese, Armenian and German) but love was his best language communicated. He was such a hopeless romantic, he saw the movie Titanic and thought it was the most wonderful love story seen. He always cherished his wife and took great pride in caring for her throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Despina (Stefanidis) Berberian; daughters, Zaharoula Bourboulas, Rose Berberian; son, Dikran Savvas Berberian; son-in-law, Kenneth Wilkerson; grandchildren. Eleni Despina Brooks & husband Craig, and Kenneth Carter “KC” Wilkerson; great-grandson, Zachary David Rayner; and numerous nieces, nephew, cousins, friends and extended family.

Services will be on Saturday, May 27, 2017 with visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM at Beresford Funeral Service, and the funeral at St. Basil the Great Greek Orthodox Church starting at 12:00 PM. Burial will commence at Forest Park Westheimer.

Mrs. Berberian,Rose, Roula, Dickie and Eleni I pray God give you strength as you mourn the passing of your love one. For the 7 yrs I've worked with Mr. Berberian I've grown to love him as a father he's proven himself to be a man if honor, loving and God fearing and humble man. He loved showing me the ropes how the gadgets work in the house and telling jokes occasionally lol. He will be greatly missed. We a a sing we sing "There's Now A Friend like Jesus " So I say there's not a friend like Mr. Berberian. So don't think of this as the end of his life. As we watch a movie and at the end it says TO BE COUNTINUED. So will his life,God is preparing him for the second half. Love, Hugs and kisses
