Michael Gaylord Baker, age 60, passed away suddenly at Memorial Hermann Hospital, in Houston Texas, with his son, Sean Michael Baker at his side. Michael was born on May 28, 1956, in Adrian, MI, to Gaylord and Jean Baker. Michael graduated from Adrian High School in 1974, and from the University of Michigan in 1977.
Michael enjoyed a career as an Actuary at Mercer (Kansas City, Mo and Detroit, MI), Towers Watson (Houston, TX), and most recently at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston, TX. Michael was actively involved in the University of Michigan Alumni Association in Missouri, Michigan, and Texas.
Michael was a devoted father to his two children, Sean and Lauren Baker. He greatly enjoyed attending and being an active parent participant in all their activities throughout their childhood and was a very proud father of their accomplishments as adults. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered in the hearts of his children.
Michael is survived by his children, Sean and Lauren Baker, his parents, Jean and Gaylord Baker, his sisters Sarah (Martin) Korth, Katherine (Dean Crane) Baker, his nieces, Laura, Kenna, Emily and Paige, and his nephew, Robert (Jessie) Baker, his cousin Brad (Mary Starek) Blakely, as well as other family members and relatives.
It is Michael's wish to be cremated. A memorial service will be held over Memorial Day Weekend, in Michigan, for friends and family . Details will be forthcoming at a later date. His family thanks you in advance for your fond remembrances and prayers.
