Paul Thomas Syzdek, 69, beloved PaPa, Father, and Friend made his final journey home to be with The Lord on October 11, 2016 in Houston, Texas. He was born on January 15, 1947 to Thomas Syzdek and Julianna Florine (Kwasnica) Syzdek in Houston, Texas.
Paul was a man who greatly loved his family, country, friends, and Bear, his chow-mix compadre. He enlisted in the United States Army on February 6, 1968 and served in Korea during the Vietnam War. January 30, 1970, he transferred to the United States Army Reserves at Fort Lewis in Washington where he served until his Honorable Discharge on February 5, 1974. November 10, 1972, Paul married Teresa Warwick and was blessed with the birth of three children; Kathryn in 1973, Robert in 1974, and Angela in 1980. He began his long career with the Fort Bend Independent School District 1976 in
the Operations Department, where he enjoyed working for 26 years until his retirement in 2002. Upon retirement, Paul enjoyed sharing more of his time with his children and grandchildren, taking spontaneous road trips along the back roads of Texas, going for walks and riding around town with Bear, and cheering on all of his favorite teams, the Dulles Vikings (GO BIG RED!), his "dear old" Texas Aggies (WHOOP! GIG 'EM!), the Houston Texans (and Oilers), and the Houston Astros. Paul was a great man with a wonderful lust for life and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and Bear, but all are grateful to The Good Lord for the wonderful time they were blessed to have with him during his journey here, and look forward to joining him again someday when The Lord chooses to call them home.
He is survived by his son, Derwin Robert Thomas Syzdek and wife Katherine Suzanne Syzdek; daughters, Kathryn Mae Stone and husband Bryan Taylor Stone, and Angela Kristine Barri and husband Eduardo Barri; grandchildren, Lauren Elyse Syzdek-Corredor and husband Cameron Corredor, Riley Nicole Syzdek, Arianna Kristine Barri, Krystal Reanna Stone, Cooper Thomas Syzdek, Kailey Taylor Stone, and Casey Noble Syzdek; brothers, Bernard Syzdek and wife Bernadine, Robert Lee Syzdek, Andrew J. Syzdek, and Samuel R. Syzdek and wife Michele; sisters, Bernice Barclay and Louise Janczak; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and Bear who all loved him dearly.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Beresford Funeral Service, 13501 Alief Clodine Road, Houston, Texas 77082. Visitation will be in the chapel from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral at 12:00 PM, also in the chapel. Interment will be at the Houston National Cemetery with Full Honors at 2:30 PM.
