In Memory of
Sherry P. Bush
-

Sherry P. Bush passed away on September 16, 2016 after a courageous battle against Alzheimer's. Sherry was born on May 1, 1945 in Corpus Christi to Charles R. and Dell Duncan Parks.

She attended Blanche Moore Elementary and Hamlin Junior High. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1963. She attended Del Mar College while working at Gilleland's, Casual Colony, and later Oshman's. In 1967, Sherry married Charles B. (Sonny) Kilgore II. The union was blessed with two children, whom Sherry adored. Son, Benson, was born in 1969 and daughter, Kendra, came along in 1973. The marriage ended with Sonny's untimely death in 1997. In 2003, Sherry married James W. Bush from Houston, a long time family friend. Sherry and Jim attended First Methodist Houston.

Sherry was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. During her children's school years, she was a very active parent volunteer and member of the PTA. She was an avid reader and loved playing any kind of board game....especially Trivial Pursuit. Sherry was also a superb bridge player, and was a member of numerous bridge clubs during her life. Sherry was the queen of garage sales....selling, not buying. When her house became cluttered with unused things, she pulled out her wooden garage sale sign and set it up in the front yard. By the end of the day, the clutter was gone! When her kids were young, Sherry loved to go camping with her family and friends on the Frio River. She was a loyal and loving friend to all who knew her, and she had a huge circle of friends with whom she shared her zest for life. Sherry had a smile that could light up a room, and never met a stranger who didn't become a friend within minutes. She had a radiant personality and a great sense of humor, endearing her to all those who now mourn her passing. For most of her adult life, Sherry was the ultimate stay-at-home mother and housewife. She maintained an immaculate home and was a great cook. Nobody could fry shrimp like Sherry! After her kids were out of school, Sherry went to work for Tobacco World, eventually becoming manager. Her work at the store gained her many new friends, some of whom came to the store daily just to visit and converse with Sherry.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Parks and her first husband Charles B. Kilgore II. Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Charles Benson Kilgore III (Cassandra), daughter Kendra Latham (Dean), sister Jan P. Oliver (Bruce), and brothers Robert K. Parks (Duellen) and Richard Brent Parks. Sherry also leaves behind 4 beloved grandchildren: Ben and Corlyn Kilgore and Jacob and Jordan Latham. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express its heartfelt thanks for the loving care given to Sherry by the staff of Colonial Oaks Nursing Home and by Helen of A-Med Hospice.

Graveside services for Sherry will be conducted at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi on October 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in the name of Sherry P. Bush.

To my dear Sherry, my partner in crime and giggles. I miss you tremendously, but I know someday we will meet again with lots of joy and laughter. I am relieved that your suffering has ended and you are whole once again. Forever friends and sisters...
