Varouj Tomas Beik Allahverdian

On Thursday April 19th, Varouj Allahverdian: husband, father, brother, uncle unfortunately passed away after a difficult six-month battle to lung cancer.  He is reunited with his father Onnik and mother Emma.

Varouj was born on December 1st, 1953 in Esfahan, Iran in to a large Armenian Christian family of seven boys (him being the second oldest) and one sister. When Varouj was 12 years old, he began playing drums in order to support his family financially. He really loved his parents, brothers and sister. Varouj always helped support his family in any way possible, whether it was working late hours as a musician or doing any handyman job to make ends meet. Once he turned 17, he began a new life by moving to the capital of Iran, Tehran, in order to continue living his dream of being a drummer.  He played with many famous musicians such as Martik and Vigen and for the Shah at the time, Shah  Pahlavi.

At the age of 30, Varouj met his beautiful wife Anahid Zadouri at a mutual friend’s party -- it was love at first sight. Varouj and Anahid were married on December 23, 1983 after just 2 months of dating. The young married couple had three kids, two boys and one girl. Shortly afterward, Varouj began his own paint manufacturing company in Tehran and stopped his music career in order to support his family. For the sake of his kids, Varouj then sacrificed everything he had in Iran and moved his family to America to provide them with a better life. Varouj continued his love and support for the three of his kids while they grew up in Texas. He helped them learn the meaning of life, standing on their own feet and how important education was.

Everyone that knew Varouj knows him for his charismatic, family-oriented, hard-working, and comical personality. As they say, he was the life of the party. Varouj is survived by his wife, Anahid and his children, Armen (wife Armida), Aramik, Arlet. He also leaves behind his six brothers, Edward (Gracie), Seroj (Siran), Azad, Gorgik (Arisneh), Fredrick (Stella), Hovik (Jacqueline) and his sister, Janet (Varouj).  Varouj will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.  

Varouj Allahverdian’s love and spirit will live on but will be missed by many. He touched many hearts around the world during his life and leaves behind a great legacy. He was a hero---an IronDad to his family. His soul will continue to be present in so many ways in the universe.

The family would like to ask in Lieu of flowers donations would greatly be appreciated in my father's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Children of Armenia Fund (COAF Kids) as these were his favorite organizations to donate.
