Gloria Mae (Poston) Smith went to be with our Lord on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at 5:30 A.M.  She passed away in her sleep.  Gloria was born July 4, 1927 to Ollie and Floye Poston in Waco, TX.  She was baptized in the Baptist faith in Waco as a young girl.  Her last place of worship in a church was Bread of Life, a non-denominational church in Houston.

In September 1946 she married O. B. Smith of Clifton.  To this union were born 3 children, Bryan, Steve and Paula.  She lived in Birmingham, AL, Chicago, IL, Brazil, and Garland, TX before she moved to Sugar Land, TX with her daughter in 2010.  In October she entered a nursing home in Richmond, TX where she enjoyed singing in the choir, crafts and the people.    She was a lady who knew how to have fun, celebrating all the holidays with her family.  She loved dancing and dressing up at Halloween to hand out candy to the little ones.

In 1958-1962 Gloria became a professional bowler with the PBA appearing in televised tournaments.  She had many trophies along with being crowned “Miss Ten Pen”, was awarded a wardrobe of clothes and a silver trophy bowl.  She also appeared on NBC’s “Make that Spare”.  Gloria traveled across the US during this time to compete.  In 1993 she retired from Eckerd Drugs as a Payroll Manager.

She was preceded in death by her two sons, Bryan Smith and Steve Smith; her parents, Ollie and Floye Poston; sisters, Modene Johnson and Fay Gilbert; and infant grandson, Ronnie Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Smith (Tony) Phillips of Sugar Land; brother, Sonny (Margie) Poston of Riesel, grandsons, Brant (Tara) Phillips of Richmond, Russell Phillips of Sugar Land, Kyle (Michelle) Phillips of Sugar Land, Mark Smith,  Hunter Smith and Colt Smith of Dallas, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
