In Memory of
Joan Webster Jordan

Joan Webster Jordan was born October 27, 1925 in Golborne, Lancashire, England.  She was the only child of Wilfred and Margaret Webster, and an only niece and grandchild on her father’s side.  She lived in a little village and enjoyed a lovely childhood there, much adored by her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Joan grew up during World War II and became a war bride to James Jordan, in June 1945.  They moved to his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, where they had one daughter, Margaret Anne.  They later divorced, and Joan moved to Houston, Texas to be near her daughter in 1981.  She enjoyed living in Houston, traveling with Anne, tending to her beloved pets, and most of all, becoming a grandmother (“Nana”) in 2002.

Joan leaves behind her daughter Anne Vachon and son-in-law Ron, grandchildren Nick and Libby, and several friends who became like family to her.  She passed away peacefully in her sleep early in the morning of June 1, 2017.

A small memorial service will be held at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 12535 Perthshire, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017, followed by lunch at the Bull and Bear Tavern at 11980 Westheimer at Kirkwood.  Her ashes will be scattered in Galveston Bay in July.

In lieu of flowers, Joan and her family would like donations made to either Houston SPCA, 900 Portway Dr., Houston, TX  77024 or Citizens for Animal Protection, 17555 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX  77094.
