In Memory of
Ruth M. Juneman
-

Ruth Murray Juneman, aged 96, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2017 after a brief illness. Ruth was born September 26, 1920 in Delphos, Ohio the daughter of Joseph and Henrietta Goebel Murray.

At the beginning of World War II, Ruth moved to Chicago, Illinois to begin her career in haberdashery sales at Navy Pier where she met the love of her life Navy man and Texan, Tom Juneman. From the moment Tom met Ruth, he knew this beautiful and spirited young woman would be his bride.  What he didn’t know was that she would not make it easy!  At the end of the war, Tom asked Ruth for her hand in marriage and to return with him to his hometown of Galveston, TX, however, she turned him down and he returned to Texas alone. Tom made the trip to Chicago again which was no easy task in 1946, and asked for Ruth’s hand once again.  She said yes to the very handsome and determined Navy man and they were married in Cicero, Illinois on December 24, 1946. Thus began their love story and her life as a Texan!

Ruth was an active volunteer at St. Mary’s Orphanage and the Ursuline Academy Parent’s Guild where she served as Board Secretary. In addition to raising her children, she was very supportive of Tom’s activities as City Commissioner in Galveston. After moving to Houston in 1962, Ruth began her career as an apartment manager which she truly enjoyed for the next 20 years.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Henrietta Murray and step mother, Lucille Murray, brother Louis Murray and his wife, Eloise, brother Joe Murray and his wife, Bertha, sister Helen Murray Warnament and her husband, Elmer. Ruth’s beloved husband, Tom, passed away in November of 1983. He has waited a long time to welcome her home.
