Rudell Bruce Carter

Rudell Bruce Carter passed away on Friday, September 30 with his loving daughter, Tonya Mitchell-Och at his side. Born in Monroe, LA, Mr. Carter grew up in Monroe before moving to Houston in his teens.

Mr. Carter was a loving, caring, father to his family. He was always ready with a smile and words of encouragement, playing a supportive role in the lives of his family and friends He was loved deeply by his family. Mr. Carter was a successful restaurant, club and gameroom owner in Houston. An avid reader and animal lover, he also enjoyed listening to jazz, appreciated good cooking, and was a professional-level domino player.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his mother, Ernestine Ball, and father, Morris Carter. He is survived by his daughter Tonya Mitchell-Och, son Marlin Demby, grandchildren Hiram Taylor Jr., Rashard Taylor, and Jazmine Thomas, brothers Claude Ball and Morris Carter Jr., sisters Katherine Ball, Joyce Carter-Jackson, and Georgia Carter, and niece Cicely Ball.

Visitation will be held at Beresford Funeral Home, 13501 Alief Clodine Road, Houston TX 77082 on Tuesday, October 4 from 10am to 12 noon, followed by a memorial service at the funeral home at 12 noon.
