In Memory of
Thomas Macon Warren Jr.
-

Thomas Macon Warren, Jr. died after a brief but valiant struggle with cancer on September 25th, 2025.

Tom was born and raised in Beaumont, TX and graduated from South Park Highschool in 1966. He was surrounded and nurtured by family from both sides at all times, even living next door to his paternal grandmother, whose house was famous for its conch-shell-lined pathways. (His maternal grandmother lived among pecan trees just one block over!) Tom enjoyed playing and watching baseball with his father and younger brother.

He helped support his single mother who was a teacher and always worked summers and weekends at his father’s family’s place of business, Warren Bros. Lumberyard. He played the trombone in the school band and got his pilot’s license at the young age of 16. Though he never pursued it as a profession, Tom enjoyed flying as a hobby. After completing one year at Stephen F. Austin University, Tom enlisted in the US Army where he served honorably and selflessly from 1968-1970.

It was at SFA that he met his wife of nearly 55 years, Linda Warren, at a school dance. The pair married in Germany while Tom served at Ramstein Airforce Base. After the service, Tom entered the workforce where he worked in inside sales for the oil and gas industry until retirement.

Tom had a fierce entrepreneurial spirit—so after working for 30+ years, he pivoted to work for himself. He raised a mob of emus (yes, emus!), became a real estate agent, and spent time doodling ideas and coming up with names for the opening of a small store in Old Towne Spring someday. He was an extremely talented woodcarver, carrying on a storied tradition of wood working in his family since the mid 1800’s.

A caretaker by nature, he remained at both of his parents’ sides until each passed away.

But it was in 1980 that Tom’s life changed forever when he became a father. Generous, diligent, responsible and impeccably good at making school lunches… Tom was an incredible dad. So he was thrilled in 2012 when he became a grandfather. With the addition of a new little girl to look after, it was the last decade of his life that he found his true passion as a doting “Pop.” A big kid at heart, he embodied and admired Santa, so much so, that all who saw him made the reference.  He was an active member of Cypress Creek Christian Church and The Houston Area Wood Carvers.

He will be missed dearly by his wife, Linda Warren; daughter Emily Spokes and Son In Law Jason and granddaughter Ellaire; brother John Warren and wife Patty; Niece Sarah Geiger and husband Steve and their three children and Nephew John Warren and wife Sarah; cousins Kathryn, Judy, Nancy, Valerie Mae, Belinda Sue and Larry; and all of his in-laws and their children and grandchildren.

A Memorial will be held for Tom on November 8th, at 10 AM, at Cypress Creek Christian Church, 6823 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, TX 77379.
