In Memory of
Richard Alan Dahlman
-

Richard Alan “Rick” Dahlman, 75, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2026.

Rick was born on September 22, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ray and Virginia Dahlman. He grew up with his older brother, Butch, and moved with his family to Houston, Texas, as a young boy. He graduated from Bellaire High School and went on to earn a degree in fine arts from the University of Houston.

It was at the University of Houston that Rick met the love of his life, Linda Patterson. He was also an active member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Rick and Linda married on June 8, 1974, and began their married life in Bellaire, Texas, before later settling in Sugar Land. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage and welcomed four children: Tiffany, Christopher, Nicholas, and Beau.

Rickspent his career in the furniture industry. Outside of work, baseball was one of his greatest passions. He spent 20 years coaching his sons, sharing his love of the game and creating memories that extended far beyond the baseball field. He loved spending time with his family, whether fishing, hunting, boating, cheering on the University of Houston football team and as of lately cooking.

At the heart of Rick’s life was his family. Affectionately known as “Poppy” to his six grandsons, he treasured his role as their grandfather and attended as many of their baseball games as he could. He was so proud of his family! His legacy lives on through each of them and all the Dahlman boys to carry on the name.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Dahlman; his daughter, Tiffany Cargol, (Kyle); his sons, Chris Dahlman (Michelle), Nick Dahlman (Cassie), and Beau Dahlman (Kelsey); his six grandsons, Wesley Dahlman, Case Dahlman, Cole Cargol, Kade Cargol, Jax Cargol, and Weldon Dahlman; and his cherished dog, Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Virginia Dahlman; his brother, Butch Dahlman; and his parents-in-law, Pat and Millie Patterson.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary at Christ Church Sugar Land, 3300 Austin Parkway, Sugar Land, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Church Sugar Land at christchurchsl.org or to the 5p- Society at fivepminus.org in honor of Rick’s grandson, Cole Cargol.

Rick will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.

I remember fondly the many trips to Houston as a kid to hang out with the Dahlman cousins and Millie and Pat. I still recall the 4th of July when we went to get fireworks with Rick and he bought so many I thought we were at a professional fireworks show! Rick was always so friendly when we would visit and I'm so sorry he's gone. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
