Aleen Katherine Freeman, 91, beloved mother, sister, aunt and proud grandmother, was reunited with her heavenly family on September 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and gentle strength. She enjoyed her last birthday cupcake with friends and caregivers at the family campground in Magnolia, Texas.
Born September 15, 1935, in San Antonio, Aleen lived a glorious life defined by grace, beauty, and love. A proud graduate of Jefferson High School, she enjoyed dance and theater, and working at the neighborhood flower shop. At just 16, she was chosen Miss Fiesta San Antonio and proudly wore her crown representing her hometown in parades and volunteering at community events. To know Aleen, was to know someone vibrant, loyal, and fiercely independent. A wonderful cook, she made Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners special, turning the family table into a place of comfort and belonging. She loved entertaining cherished guests, volunteering
Aleen always kept her bags packed and was ready to see the world. At 21, she became a stewardess for Eastern Airlines and moved to New York, where she met -and married- her handsome Italian pilot, Dean Telaroli, a US Navy veteran. They later moved to the desert of Tucson, Arizona, where they raised their young family and enjoyed many memorable camping and fishing trips with sons, Steven and Dean Jr. Years later, Aleen and Dean retired to Boerne, Texas to be closer to family. After Dean’s passing, she moved to New Mexico and reunited with a family friend (the late Pat Freeman), making memories together in the high-desert mountains. Throughout her nine decades, Aleen’s Christian faith remained a quiet source of strength, and her warmth brought her many treasured friendships.
Aleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Dean Telaroli, Sr., her beloved second husband, Pat Freeman; her parents, Major Elton Smith, Sr. and Marion Smith; her late son, Dean Jr.; her beloved brother, Elton “Bubba” Smith Jr.; and beautiful sister, June Smith. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Steven; and her cherished grandchildren, Garrett, Dillon, Justin, and Aleena, with whom she shared a close and enduring bond. The family would like to thank Remarkable Hospice, FirstLight Home Health, and the many caregivers who provided Aleen and her family with hope, comfort, and compassion.
Aleen’s funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church in Tomball, Texas, with Rev. Fr. Tommy Hopper as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Fiesta San Antonio Commission, a 501(c)(3) organization.
God bless Aleen, and may she rest in peace.
