Darrylin Francine Heard was born September 17, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Elger and Catherine Simmons. She was educated in the Detroit Public School System where she graduated from Central High School.
She accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Pastor J.E. Crouch at New Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. Darrylin loved to sing and direct the choir...in fact, singing and directing were her passions along with cooking and traveling. During her time at New Mount Sinai she directed the Young Inspirationals, Pastors Choir and Gospel Chorus until her health could no longer permit.
On November 20, 1970 Darrylin married Wallace Christopher Heard and to this union two daughters were born, Ebony Lynnette and Adrienne Renae.
On April 22, 2003 Darrylin was stricken with stroke that left her partially paralyzed on the left side of her body. Although that was a traumatic event, that didn't stop her from doing the things she most wanted to do, including making the decision to leave Detroit in 2016 to move to Houston for warmer weather and to be closer to her grandson, Xander. For the last year and a half she enjoyed every second of being around Xander and watching him grow.
On Monday October 2, 2017, Darrylin departed this life surrounded by both her daughters and grandson and entered into eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband and sister Denise. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Ebony, Adrienne (Leo) Baker, grandson Xander, stepdaughter LaKisha Riggins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
