Wanda “Jean” van Heeckeren passed from this life into the loving arms of Jesus on August 27, 2007 after a courageous and determined battle with cancer. Jean was born in Atoka, Oklahoma on November 30, 1929 to Dewey and Kate Moffatt.
Those surviving her are her loving and devoted husband Steve van Heeckeren, sons J. J. Griffin and wife Deanna and Ron Griffin and wife Belinda. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister Katie Wells and several
nieces and nephews. “Ms. Jeannie” was a dedicated Christian and a loyal and supportive wife, mother and grandmother.
She loved all things beautiful and did countless things to make the world a place of beauty for so many people. Her warmth, generosity, faith and passion for life will be impossible to forget.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff members at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for their loving care and concern for Jean.
Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, September 1, 2007 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at The Lighthouse Worship Center, 16710 Kleinwood Drive, Spring, Texas 77379, with the funeral service following at 11:00 am. The graveside service and interment will be at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
