My fondest memory of Leland is when he would pack his over 6ft, neat as a pin, not a hair out of place, frame, into his little blue Fiat and drive around the streets of Kobe, Japan like a wild Texan.

Leland and Joanne were the first to greet us when we arrived in Japan in 1964, and we will never forget their kindness, hospitality, and generosity in helping us get acclimated and settled into our new home.

I will always remember his laugh and his kind spirit.
Just think, he is sharing his laughter now with His Savior.

I remember summer camp after summercamp with Bro Lanier. He was always such an inspiration to me with his teachings. He made the gospel "simple".

I will miss his smile and that "chuckle" of his that was so contagious. I will miss seeing "Jesus" thru him and his life....

My Dear Family,
My thoughts are running together when I think of Leland. He represents so many good things in my life. I remember how much comfort he brought to my family and me when Hudson died, and he preached the funeral. I had some wonderful conversations with him about the Lord over the years. He always strengthened me personally when we talked. I loved him so much...I will miss him!

I admired Leland all of my life. He always made me want to be a better person. I have fond memories of hearing about time spent as missionaries in Japan. Believe it or not..I can still count to five in Japanese! I never think of Leland without remembering his contagious laughter. It was the best. Knowing the emptiness I feel, I can only imagine how much his family and Church family will miss him. What a legacy of faith he has left to all of us! Ronny

I first met Leland in 1969 when I married Ronny. His servant heart touched me then...as it did everytime I saw him over the years. He and Joanne made a great team! I know that the angels in Heaven rejoice that he is home. My prayer is that all of you will find peace together as you remember how much he loved each of you. Susan

Bro. Lanier baptized me when I was a child and was a good friend and pastor to my family and myself. Heaven is rejoicing that one of their own is now home. I will pray for the ones he left behind that God will grant you the peace in the coming months.
