In Memory of
Douglas Jay Choate
-

Douglas Jay Choate was born in California on April 7, 1964.

He spent most of his childhood in Louisiana and graduated high school from Leesville High School in Leesville, Louisiana. In 1984 Doug joined the Army and separated in 1989 at the rank of sergeant E-5 as an administrative specialist. His military service would start him in the computer industry which would define his career. Throughout his career in the computer industry he would work for various government entities. He even became an entrepreneur by opening up his own data consulting firm. Eventually, he would work for the U.S. Courts in Delaware, San Antonio, and Houston. On his leisure time, he loved to go salt water fishing along the Texas coast line. Doug was the kind of person who loved helping others out. He would often spend hours on end at home helping his fellow coworkers solve important U.S. Courts computer data problems.

On December 25 at around midnight, he was called home by our Father in heaven. He was a man large in spirit and character. He simply did his duty all his life to his job and country. We look forward to seeing him again through Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Foot Prints
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Doug Choate is a unsung hero. He was instrumental in the implementation of CM/ECF for Illinois Northern Bankruptcy. Many, Many, Many, Many people have benefited from his dedication to making CM/ECF a success.

My prayers and thoughts to Doug's family.

Doug was a friend I never got to meet. He was always helpful, always knowledgeable and always a pleasure to work with. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. Doug will be missed by many around the country for a long time to come.
