In Memory of
Michael Todd Sprague
-

Michael glorified God with his life.

Michael Todd Sprague was peacefully carried into the arms of his Savior on Friday, September 4, 2026, in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends after a courageous journey with leukemia. Michael continuously trusted in the Lord and held firmly to the hope he had in Jesus Christ.

Michael was born on February 23, 1958, in Mineral Wells, Texas. He was the oldest of five children. His family moved to the Esser Farm in Wisconsin in 1960. Michael graduated from Brookfield East High School in 1976. He attended the University of Wisconsin where he graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts Degree and then received his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center in 1983.

Michael’s decision to pursue a career in law was a natural reflection of who God made him to be. From an early age, he possessed a strong sense of right and wrong and a desire to advocate for others and intervene when others might have remained silent. He believed in treating everyone with dignity and respect, and he carried himself with courtesy, and unwavering integrity. These qualities not only shaped the attorney he became but reflected the man he was in every area of his life.

Mike built a distinguished legal career spanning more than four decades. He earned a reputation as a gifted trial lawyer and passionate advocate. Over the course of his career, he tried more than 300 cases to jury verdict in 15 counties across the Texas Gulf Coast and successfully handled numerous appeals — including matters before the Texas Supreme Court. He was admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He was also frequently called upon to share his experience as a continuing legal education speaker. Recognized by his peers for both his legal ability and professional ethics, Mike held Martindale-Hubbell's prestigious AV Preeminent rating for more than 20 years. His skill in the courtroom, attention to detail, and ability to connect with judges and juries earned him the respect of colleagues and opposing counsel alike. This made him a trusted advocate for his clients throughout his career.

Those who knew Michael were blessed by his steady presence, and his willingness to serve and share the love of Jesus with others. He participated as a leader for the Christian Service Brigade, sat on the Board of Directors for the Pregnancy Help Center of Katy, and served as a Precinct Chairman and Precinct Representative to the State Convention. He was an Elder and Sunday school teacher at BridgePoint Bible Church for many years. He also led multiple mission trips with BridgePoint Bible Church for a children’s summer camp in northern Spain.
Michael enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, hiking, eating coffee ice cream and creating memories by traveling the world with his family.

Michael’s faithfulness was evident in the way he loved his family. He was devoted to his wife Laura and faithful to his covenant marriage for 46 years. He loved his children deeply and led by example by faithfully showing them what it meant to be a godly father. He is survived by his wife, Laura Sprague, son, Aaron Sprague and wife, Katie Sprague, daughter, Natasha Faulkner and husband, Lincoln Faulkner and grandchildren, Evelyn, Juliet and Ivy. He is further remembered by his mother, Tod Sprague and siblings, Nathan, Kyle, Sam and Sarah.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Donald Sprague.

In lieu of flowers, Michael requested that those wishing to honor his memory consider supporting missions. Donations may be made to the BridgePoint Bible Church Missions Fund: Bridgepoint Missions

Mike’s Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Bridgepoint Bible Church located at 13277 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
