In Memory of
Betty Larriviere
-

Marie Betty Aline Gondron Larriviere went to be with our Lord in Heaven on May 19, 2022 at the age of 94. Betty was born in Broussard, Louisiana on April 6, 1928 to Henri Gondron and Aline Borel Gondron. She was the second youngest child with three older brothers, an older sister and a younger sister.  She was Baptized into the Catholic faith on May 6, 1928 at Sacred Heart Church in Broussard.  Betty married her Saint Cecilia high school sweetheart, Andrew Jules Larriviere, Jr. (Sonny) on May 29, 1948 in Broussard.  They moved from Louisiana to Pasadena, Texas in the early 1950’s where they had three children, Janet Donna Larriviere born on February 11, 1953, Patrick Andrew Larriviere born on March 17, 1958 and Andrea Julie Larriviere born on August 5, 1961.

Betty and Sonny were raised and lived as devout Catholics and were among the founding members of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park, Texas.  Betty volunteered as the church’s secretary for many years.  Eventually that turned into a paying position and she used her salary to pay for Catholic school tuition for her children.

Betty was a very talented seamstress who made clothes for her family, including her grandchildren, as they were growing up and even made the wedding dress that Janet wore when she got married.  She was also an avid quilter who created many beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren.  Betty also produced many intricate and beautiful cross stitch works of art that still decorate her children’s homes.  She found joy in antiquing with her friends, especially in Round Top, Texas. Betty also loved listening to Willie Nelson, who she saw at a concert once and loved watching the Rockets play, which she once got to witness first hand from the stands.  And in the tradition of her Cajun heritage, Betty was an exceptionally good cook!  She was a beautiful person, a loving wife to Sonny for 74 years and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She brought light, love and laughter into all our lives and will surely be missed!

Betty is survived by her husband Sonny Larriviere; her children Janet Larriviere Smith and her spouse Patrick (Rusty) Smith, Patrick Larriviere and his spouse Lisa Willbanks Larriviere, and Andrea Larriviere Reinert and her spouse Tom Reinert.  She is also survived by her younger sister Elaine McDow.  Betty and Sonny have eight grandchildren; Aaron Smith and spouse Ashley, Jacob Smith and spouse Samantha, Adrienne Trimble and spouse Tyler, Dayna Willbanks and spouse Trey, Jenna Comer and spouse Chris, Cole Willbanks and spouse Kaylee, Nicholas Reinert, and Emily Reinert.  They also have eleven great grandchildren; Taylor Smith, Brody Smith, Joslyn Trimble, Dillon Trimble, Evan Trimble, Claire Willbanks, Parker Holloway, Raegan Willbanks, Rhett Comer, Croix Comer and Layken Comer.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Henri Gondron and Aline Borel Gondron and her siblings, Roland Gondron, Wallis Gondron, Harold Gondron and Ruby Drivon.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at The Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service, 13501 Alief Clodine Road, Houston, Texas. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00. Rosary & memorial service from 1:00 to 2:00.

Following the memorial service, there will be a post-funeral reception at The Legacy at Falcon Point Assisted Living Facility at 2:45, 1520 Katy Gap Rd, Katy, Texas.
Interment will be at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas, on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 1:15. The family has decided on a private graveside service.
