Lawrence Richard Champion Jr. of Sealy, TX passed away 1/16/2026 at the age of 85 in Katy, TX.
Lawerence was born to Virginia (nee Pyburn) and Lawrence Richard Champion in Houston, TX on 11/17/1940. He graduated from Spring Branch HS (Class of 1958) and served in the US Army afterwards, stationed in Germany as an MP. Following military service he drove ambulances, wreckers, and eventually 18 wheelers, where he became known to his fellow truckers for the number of lights on his truck, the power of his CB radio and his willingness to help his fellow truckers. Lawrence retired from the road as an owner-operator in 2014 with a perfect driving record.
Lawerence is preceded in death by both his parents and his brother Stan. He is survived by his former wife of many years Lorraine, a daughter, son Robert and his wife Shannon and their children and grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at Memorial Oaks Cemetery at a future date. Beresford Funeral Services will be handling the arrangements.
