Mary Louise Woodruff Rex

Mary Louise Woodruff Rex, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on August 17, 2011 in Houston, TX. She was born on December 21, 1943 in Houston, TX to Louise and John Woodruff. She was a proud resident of Harris County since 1967 and has lived in Katy, TX since 1982.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband David Austin Rex, to whom she was married for 44 years. She is survived by her sisters Jean Woodruff Diebold, Linda Woodruff Royce, and Carol Woodruff. She was the proud and beloved mother of Chrystyna Jean Jeter & husband Michael, David Austin Rex, Jr. & wife Shari, and Alan Bartlett Rex & wife Megan. She was the devoted grandmother to Madison Rush Rex, Abigail Elizabeth Vivian Rex, Emma McKinney Rex, Alexander Michael Rex, Mae Isabella McConley, and Isaac Joseph McConley. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Mary was a world traveler and spent 21 years in the military with her husband. She loved God, she loved life, she loved her family, she loved her friends, and she loved her dogs. She was loved and treasured by everyone who knew her. She has worked at the J.R. Woodruff Company for the last 28 years, and has been a co-owner of that company since 2005. She was a member of Holy Covenant Church in Katy, TX.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, August 22 at Holy Covenant United Methodist Church, 22111 Morton Ranch Road in Katy, TX. A graveside memorial will be held at the Houston National Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 23, to be followed by a memorial service at Holy Covenant Church at 1:00 PM. For those desiring contributions can be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.
