Vincent Earl Marquart, of Houston, Texas, passed away at the age of 71, on October 27, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 20, 1954 in Hondo, Texas, to Sgt USAF Earl Eugene Marquart and Adalene Mary (Wolff) Marquart. He began school in Hondo, TX, went to 3rd grade in Ankara, Turkey and 4th grade and part of 5th grade in Wiesbaden, Germany before returning to the United States at Randolph AFB.
Vince graduated from Randolph Air Force Base High School in Universal City in 1972. Vince had a love for music that started early as he began playing his grandfather’s trumpet in 7th grade. He was in the marching band, jazz band and symphonic band in high school along with being Drum Major of the High School Band. He attended Sam Houston State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education in 1977. While attending SHSU he was a member of the marching band, jazz ensemble and wind ensemble.
He started his career as a band director at Friendswood High School in 1977 until 1979. He moved to Cy-Fair ISD where he taught until 1994.
While in Cy-Fair ISD, he taught at Cy-Fair HS from 1979-1982, and helped open Watkins MS in 1982 and later opened Truitt Middle School in 1990. In 1994 he moved to Spring Branch MS and Vince finished his 36 year teaching career at Memorial HS retiring in 2013. During his career he was an accomplished trumpet player and taught lessons for many years. His professional memberships include Texas Bandmasters Association and Texas Music Educators Association.
Once retired, Vince oversaw the building, opening and administrating of the Music and Arts Center for Memorial Drive Methodist Church where he also enjoyed playing in their musical organizations for several years. Also in retirement, Vince pursued his passion for woodworking, making mesquite wood Christmas tree ornaments and flags from shipping crates for family and friends. He enjoyed maintaining a lovely yard as long as he was physically able and could make some tasty meals at the grill and in the kitchen. He loved traveling with the “Shirt People” to places around the globe and hanging out with his friends on Friday night’s and once a month for Bon Appetite dinner club.
Vince is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jill Enos Marquart; 4 children, Brenton Earl Marquart & wife Amanda, Laura Elizabeth Fleming & husband Scott, Taylor Samantha Day and Cooper Vincent Marquart; 3 grandchildren, Wyatt, Nolan and Lucas Fleming; his mother, Adalene Wolff Marquart; and siblings, Wendy Elaine Marquart, Roland Paul Marquart & wife Tammy; brother-in-law, Mark Veenstra and father-in-law, Dana Enos; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family members and faithful dogs, Harley and Max.
He was preceded in death by his father, CMSgt USAF, retired, Earl Eugene Marquart, his sister Lisa Marie Veenstra and his mother-in-law, Lois Jean Enos.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at the Deerfield Recreation Center at 4045 Deerfield Village Dr., Houston, Tx 77084 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in his name be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of your choice.
The family would especially like to thank all of our friends, Deerfield neighbors, coworkers and doctors and nurses at The Heart Institute at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital who have been so supportive and helpful.
