Yaqoub Issaq

Yacoub Issaq, 81, passed away on March 30, 2023 in Houston, Texas.  He was born on July 1, 1941 in Erbil, Iraq to Issaq Elia and Goli Ibrahim.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rijina Sher; his son, Nasim Ishak & wife Heba; 2 daughters, Niveen Issaq, and Nina Issaq Irwin & husband Jonathan; 4 grandchildren, Aron Ishak, Andre Ishak, Johannes Irwin, and Noah Irwin; 2 brothers, Slewa Issaq & wife Helani, and Matti Issaq & wife Sabiha; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Yaqoub "Jacob" was known for his humor and smile, he could become friends with random strangers and strike a conversation with them.  He was extremely generous with everyone in his life, no guest would leave his house hungry, but rather full.  He loved gardening and growing plants with his wife Regina, they would have a garden with vegetables and flowers in every house they stayed in.  His greatest love was his family.

Services will be on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church (11935 Bellfort Village Dr, Houston, TX 77031).  The Rosary begins at 10:00 AM and mass will start at 10:30 AM.  Burial will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery (12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077).

Mr Yaqoub will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. When we first met he was unwell though he would show all his positivity with strength, grace, and humour. He was a greatest host and would make me feel as a part of his family in their most welcoming home. What could be seen beyond his illness was his great love to his beautiful family, his joy to be surrounded by loving people, and the pride for his fantastic children who accomplished so much by his side. Mr Yaqoub will always be in my memories as a loving farther of my dear friends, his children. Rest in piece dear Mr Yaqoub.
