Betty Shipman Ramage

Betty Ramage passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 in Houston after a lengthy illness following a stroke in July 2012.

Her beloved husband Willis L. “Bill” Ramage, her parents Luther and Ino Hicks, her brothers Oliver and John Shipman and one sister Jeri S. Parr preceded her in death. She leaves behind her son David and his wife Pam (Houston), granddaughters and grand-son-in-laws Abigail and Collin Taylor (Houston), Amanda and Andrew Cordar (Gainesville, FL), and great grandchildren Riley Grace (3) and Wavely Paige (1) Taylor. Additionally, extended family includes Edna Ramage Hudson (Amarillo), Prudie Ramage and Doug McCabe (Mesa, AZ), Sheila Ramage and Bob Lanning (San Jose, CA), and sister Helen S. Houlette of Oklahoma City, and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was born in Oklahoma City, the second child of five born to Ino and Luther Shipman. She married Bill Ramage on June 6, 1948; together they moved across Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Mississippi until they landed in the Champions area in Houston in 1974. Until her retirement, she worked in the medical field near Houston Northwest Medical Center on 1960.

Betty loved working with Vacation Bible School at John Wesley, as well as making costumes for her granddaughters many activities at school and church, and costumes for many of the events held at John Wesley – Disney Night and Walk Thru Bethlehem were just a few.

The Ramage family would like to thank the staff at Tomball Retirement Center and Legend Oaks Willowbrook for their many hours of care and attention to Betty.

A private memorial service is scheduled at a later date.

Betty was a substitute grandma to Andrew and we are so appreciative of that. She was a special lady.
