Henrietta Whited Humber, 91, went to be with our Heavenly Father on October 27, 2010.
Born on February 20, 1919, "Hennie" was preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Lorena Whited and her sisters Eleanor Cole of Atlanta, Georgia, and Billie Shacklet of Alpharetta, Georgia. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband John B. Humber who passed away on July 20, 1980.
Henrietta spent her childhood in Atlanta and attended high school there. Together with husband John, Hennie lived briefly in New Orleans and then settled in Houston where they raised their two children, John and Julie. Hennie and her family were members of South Main Baptist Church and attended services there regularly.
Hennie was active
In her role of devoted wife, Henrietta supported her husband John as his business responsibilities with the Thomas & Betts Company took them to Overland Park, Kansas and then to Rancho Palos Verdes, California. After her loving care of John for many months before his death, Henrietta returned to Texas to reside in Houston and then Austin.
Henrietta is survived by her daughter Julie Diane Friedewald and husband Dr. Vincent E. Friedewald, Jr. of Spicewood, TX, and her son, Dr. John Y. Humber of Houston; her granddaughter Natalie Nieto and husband Richard of The Woodlands, TX; grandson Vincent III and wife Jenny Friedewald of Austin; great grandson Jake Smith; and great granddaughter Nakeli Nieto. Henrietta is also survived by her sister Dorothy Earnest of Lake San Marcos, CA.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 2:30 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, located at 12800 Westheimer, Houston. Flowers can be sent to Beresford Funeral Services, 13501 Alief Clodine Road, Houston, TX 77082.

Hennie was active
in local garden clubs and received many awards for her floral arrangements. Hennie was also an avid supporter of the extensive dancing activities of her daughter Julie, and served as president of Allegro Ballet of Houston for several years. Another of her hobbies was playing the organ. Although she was a capable organ player on her own, Hennie took music lessons during the later part of her life to improve her skills.
