Pauline (Polly) Laverne Tucker Strangmeyer, 91, peacefully passed away on September 6, 2009, at Woodwind Lakes Nursing home in Houston, Texas.

She was born September 24, 1917, in the Concord Community near Quitman, Texas. She grew up in the Quitman, Mineola and Lindale areas.
She was the daughter of Martha Jane and Stephen Walker Tucker of Concord, Texas.

Polly is survived by her son, Daryl, and his wife, Nancy, step-sons and their wives, Don and Betty Strangmeyer and Floyd and Yvonne Strangmeyer; Granddaughter, Elizabeth Strangmeyer; Step-grandchildren: Dawn, Dana, Debbie, Sherry, Carl, David, Paul, Michael, Susan, Jennifer, Mark, and Bryan; Step-great grandchildren: Travis, Cody, Chad, Rebecca, Blane, Ashley, Trevor, August; Numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Erwin C. Strangmeyer, and stepdaughter, Patsy Reynolds; her parents, Martha Jane and Stephen Walker Tucker; brothers and sisters: Everett Leroy Tucker, Theora Gertrude Tucker Hill, Golda Juanita Tucker Bass, Edgar Ray Tucker, Emmie Gladys Tucker Lankford, William Houston Tucker, Beula Grace Tucker, Ruth Inez Tucker, Mary Elizabeth Tucker Collier, Sarah Petrolene Tucker Farmacka.

Pauline graduated High School then Beauty School and started work at the barbershop in Mineola, Texas. She moved to Houston and worked in the Harrisburg and River Oaks areas in the 1940’s as a cosmetologist.
She spent a short time in California working for the U.S. Post Office Department then returned to Pasadena, Texas, to work with her sister, Pat, in Pat’s Beauty Shop, the first beauty shop in Pasadena. She purchased Pat’s Beauty Shop from her sister and operated it until she was eighty-nine years old, over 65 years as a cosmetologist.

The funeral service will be at Concord Cemetery, Wood County, Texas.
