In Memory of
Regan Monet Schmidt
-

Regan Schmidt was born in Austin, Texas on October 31, 1985. She passed away peacefully on May 26, 2017 at the age of 31 after a life-long battle with leukemia.

Regan graduated from Pflugerville High School in 2004 and received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas in 2012.

Regan possessed a brilliant mind and was an overachiever in every sense of the word.  She never let her leukemia diagnosis hinder or define her. Despite being diagnosed at age 11, she earned her engineering degree and was an Engineering Project Lead for PinnacleART until she began her final battle with leukemia in 2015. Regan loved teaching.  During high school she tutored her fellow students in the complexities of upper level math, and during college was a bio-medical engineering tutor for the College of Engineering.  Regan took a break from her studies in 2006 through 2008 and served as the Education Director for PHCC-Texas.

Regan expressed her creativity through painting, drawing, and jewelry-making and left us many beautiful creations.  She loved animals and had a particular soft spot for cats. Her penchant for bringing home strays was tolerated well by her parents throughout her childhood.  Regan was a voracious reader and a lifelong learner; her quick wit was only surpassed by her kindness and compassion for animals and for her fellow man.

Regan is survived by her mother Patti Schmidt, father Robert Schmidt, sister Sarah Schmidt, grandparents Vit and Gertie Janda, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A private burial and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 3rd.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Austin Pets Alive in memory of Regan Schmidt.

I am so sorry for your tragic loss. I can't even begin to know the devasting pain you are feeling right now. Please know that our loving Father does know your pain and very soon is going to fix all the things that is causing anguish in or lives -including death- Revelation 21:4 makes that point very clear. We also have the wonderful hope of seeing those we have lost in death, here on earth as John 5:28, 29 brings out. I do hope you gain strength and courage to carry on until God's will is fulfilled.
