Wilma Elizabeth Huff Hammond

Elizabeth Hammond, 96, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2006 in Stafford, TX. She was born on July 31, 1910 to Joshua I. Huff and Lidia Paxton Huff in Houston, TX. when the city was just 73 years old and much smaller and less populated than it is today. Mrs. Hammond was the Charter President of the Golden Friendship Group at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stafford, TX. She also served on the Past Board of Directors of the St. Dominic Center in Houston, TX. She worked for 17 years at Sakowitz on Post Oak and was a 12-year Volunteer at Twelve Oaks Hospital. Mrs. Hammond is preceded in death by her husband James Frank Hammond who passed away in 1973. She is survived by her daughter Betty Anne Vaccaro and husband Lawrence Vaccaro of Stafford, TX.; and son Benjamin Burns Hammond of Stafford, TX.; three granddaughters: Lacy Elizabeth Utterback and husband Major Mitchell Utterback of San Marcos, CA.; Lori Anne Wilson and husband Michael Wilson of Plano, TX.; and Lisa Marie Vaccaro of Houston, TX. Also suriving her are nephews Ted Coffey, Arthur Coffey, and Pat Hammond. Pallbearers will be Major Mitchell Utterback, Michael Wilson, Ted Coffey, John Ferro, Joe Scanlin and Lawrence Vaccaro Jr. A Rosary will be offered Monday November 27, 2006 at 7:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1510 5th Street, Missouri City, TX. 77489 with visitation following the Rosary until 9:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday November 28, 2006 at 10:00 am also at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow the service at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
