 
 
 BARBARA JEAN ASHWORTH, 77, went to be with her Lord on December 29, 2015 and now resides in peace with her Father, Our God in Heaven. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Aunt, Great-Aunt, and Grandmother.
Barbara was born May 2, 1938, in St. Joseph Infirmary, Houston, Texas. Her parents were Edith Maxine Dewberry and Marion Edward Dewberry, Sr. She graduated from Milby High School in 1956 and entered a business school while living in Houston, Texas.
On August 23, 1958, at age 19, Barbara Jean Dewberry, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan H. Black was married to Wendall Dean Weir the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Weir of Webster City, Iowa, and had two children from her first marriage.
           
 
She remarried again to Clark P. Ashworth on September 21, 1973, and became a step-mother to his three children. She continued her career in Higher Education as Administrator at University of Houston, Athletics Department. To finish her career, she received a promotion and transferred to be an Executive Assistant at the Facilities Department and finally retired after many years of service.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Faith Baptist Church in Pearland, Texas, where she was active in the ladies prison ministry. Later she joined Sagemont Church and attended the Ladies Bible ministry and continued in her Christian faith.
She was preceded by her beloved husband of 34 years, Clark P. Ashworth, in death, by her mother Edith Maxine Black; father Marion E. Dewberry, Sr.; step-father Dan H. Black; brother Marion E. Dewberry Jr. and they are all now reunited in Heaven. She will be missed greatly for her love, generosity, encouragement, faith, kindness, laughter, cooking, business sense, hospitality, friendship, and genuine care of family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Teresa A. Self and husband Steve, son Walter D. Weir; stepdaughter Teresa Harris and husband Frank, stepson David Ashworth and wife Rene, and stepdaughter Darlene Weigel and husband Chris.  Also, grandchildren, William J. Self, Kendall Weir and Leiah Weir; stepgrandchildren, many wonderful nieces and nephews from her brother Marion E. Dewberry, Jr.; sister-in-laws Marie Mir and Georgia Sue Dewberry.
