Carolyn Ann Walker, 79, passed away on December 9, 2024 in Houston, Texas. She was born on April 4, 1945 in Houston, Texas.
She was an avid gardener and could grow anything and everything from grapefruits that she sprouted from seeds to vegetables, flowers, pecan trees and pomegranates. She was a devoted and doting grandmother who loved nothing better than spoiling spending time with her granddaughters - they were always in her arms, on her lap or holding her hand. She was a loving and caring mother and best friend to her daughter, Whitney. And she loved her daughter-in-law, Heidi, as though she were her own, as well as Heidi's sisters, brothers and mother. She adored her niece, Kathy and looked forward to their weekly
visits. She was cherished and will be missed by the many whose lives she touched.
Christmas was Carolyn's absolute favorite holiday and everyone who knew her always anxiously anticipated the holiday festivities in her home, which she turned into a Christmas wonderland that could have rivaled a Norman Rockwell or Thomas Kincaid painting. She loved and collected snowmen and frog figurines. Her holiday gift wrapping was also an art form all its own - causing recipients to cautiously and carefully open their gifts, hoping to preserve her beautiful gift wrap decorations. Of course, no gathering at her home was complete without enjoying her delicious cooking, decadent baked goods and awe-inspiring pastries. Carolyn was a self-taught and extremely gifted and talented seamstress, quilt maker, historical doll clothing maker, as well as numerous other crafting techniques. She was an avid reader, had eclectic musical tastes, loved to dance and could always be counted on to join in karaoke
She is survived by her daughter, Whitney Walker; daughter-in-law, Heidi Castillo; and two grandchildren, Clarisse Castillo-Walker and Cassidy Castillo-Walker. She is also survived by Heidi's siblings, German Hernandez, Jennifer Hernandez, Vanessa Hernandez, Nygib Castro, and Jailene Castro.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Floyd Walker; her son, Whitman Walker; her brother, Glenwood Sullivan; and sisters, Betty Joe Hicks, Joyce Hood, and Oscar Gloria Sullivan.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service from 11 am to 1 pm. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
