In Memory of
Catherine Laurence Marie Gomez-Cook
-

CATHERINE LAURENCE MARIE GOMEZ-COOK, 60, of Tomball, Texas, passed away on January 17, 2025. This was after receiving a devastating terminal diagnosis in August 2024.

CATHERINE was born July 26, 1964 in Le Havre, Normandy, France. The daughter of Antoine and Petra (Martinez-Hildalgo) Gomez.

CATHERINE received her Baccalaureate majoring in Economics with a minor in Mathematics from the Lycée Porte-Océane - Le Havre in 1982. She continued her education at the Ecole Superieure du Commerce du Havre and went on to complete her M.B.A in International Business majoring in Export and International Finance in 1988 at the Faculté des Affaires Internationales. She was fluent in 5 languages and was a high academic achiever at all levels.

CATHERINE was married to Robert C. Cook. Their happy and loving relationship continued over 25 years. They first met at the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris during a flight layover. It was a storybook romance that was faithful and loving to the end.

CATHERINE began her career in her hometown of Le Havre with Trouvay & Cauvin in the oil & gas sector. She was later transferred to Houston which she made her home. She moved on to Cameron that was later purchased by Schlumberger. CATHERINE was an expert in project management, quality assurance, risk and process improvements. She was a highly respected leader of a multi-national team that cared for people and achieved amazing results. Her last position was as Director of Project Services at Schlumberger.

CATHERINE was a happy, family oriented, outgoing person. She had a sharp wit and loved word plays in connection with her knowledge of the many languages and dialects. She loved and kept in contact with a large extended family in France, Spain and the United States. CATHERINE and Robert traveled extensively visiting family and exploring new places. There was always a new adventure. CATHERINE'S dedication to family was once again confirmed as she took care of her dementia inflicted mother after her father had passed. There was no way that her mother would be left in the care of the French social system. Petra passed at CATHERINE'S home in October 2023.

There are many relatives, friends and co-workers that were special to CATHERINE. Many of these people were able to visit her at home or in the hospital in her last days. Robert's parents, Wayne and Janice DuBois were often by her side doing what they could for her. CATHERINE'S cousin Vincent and his wife Linda Paragone added much comfort and support. Step-daughter Andrea, along with children Dylan and Phoenix enjoyed a special relationship with CATHERINE. The Ruiz Family was there for her as they had been while helping CATHERINE care for her mother. Many colleagues that became solid friends of CATHERINE from the very beginning of her career were also present at her side. It's impossible to name all of the people that need to be mentioned.

CATHERINE was preceded in death by her parents Antoine and Petra Gomez.

The funeral mass will be held January 29, 2025 at 11:30 in the St. Justin Martyr Church 13350 Ashford Point Dr., Houston, TX 77082 with the viewing starting at 09:30. The burial will follow at the Houston National Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life hosted by Sonia & Eric Sidle at 11274 Majestic Dr., Montgomery, TX 77316 on March 22, 2025 at 2:00PM. Please RSVP at soniasidle@icloud.com.

Houston Hospice was a great help to Catherine when she was caring for her mother. Please leave a donation in her name in lieu of flowers on their website: https://www.houstonhospice.org/donate/

No words will ever do you justice!
Sometimes, words feel so small in moments like this. Today, I want to honor my dear friend, Catherine who left this world far too soon. To know her was to witness a heart so full of humor, and strength. She had this incredible way of making you laugh even when life was heavy and could cut through the noise with her sharp wit and unflinching honesty. You always knew where you stood with Catherine, and it was usually in a place of love.
Of all the friendships I’ve had over the years, Catherine stood in a league of her own. I feel incredibly lucky to have shared those years with her, to have laughed, cried, and grown alongside her. My heart aches knowing she’s gone, but I will carry her with me always. Rest easy, my friend. I will always love you, Valerie.

Cat was one of my orginal clients from my Diva days back in 2011. She was always a favorite to see, had an infectious smile and her humor at times had me laughing during her massage sessions. I will never forget how kind and giving she was. How passionate she was about her life with her husband, and the recent reconciliations with extended family. Though I was quite aware of her condition over last few months, it did not prepare me for today. I pray she rests in peace, and I pray for mercy and comfort for her husband Robert.

As Catherine’s French cousin, I don’t remember the lady time I met her. But I still remember the brunette Little girl, looking like a lovely doll…
May God tale her in his everlasting pence!

Cat,

What can I say, you were such a cherished family friend and dear to anyone who had the opportunity to know you. To me, you were my fellow polyglot, world traveler, and adventurous friend. I enjoyed our chats and sharing the excitement of my pregnancy and arrival of my first child with you. Truly gone too soon but you will be remembered by us all and for your wit, I will always remember to “be here now,” as you said and live in the moment!

Dearest Catherine,
I am beyond stunned and my heart hurts with heavy grief. There are just no words….
Our friendship over these years going back to when we were neighbors in The Woodlands has meant so much to me. Your wit, straight-up honesty, loyalty, persistence and care have been but just a few of the many qualities I truly admired about you. Bolivar will never be the same. Dickens will never be the same. I’m not sure if Chris will ever eat a salad again because I can’t replicate your special dressing. Life will just not be the same.
I want to thank you for being my friend. I will always cherish our memories and had looked forward to many more. But that was not God’s plan…Rest in peace my friend and until we meet again. Shine down on us as the brightest star that you are! Love always Lisa Kiser

Today, as I reflect on the remarkable person that Catherine was, my heart is filled with a mix of laughter and tears. Catherine had a unique gift—the ability to light up any room with her humor and wit. Her jokes were legendary, often leaving us in fits of laughter, and her playful spirit was infectious.

Yet, beneath that vibrant exterior lay an incredible depth of understanding. Catherine had a way of looking at people, her eyes sparkling with insight, as if she could see straight into their souls. In just a few words, she could capture the essence of someone, showcasing both their strengths and vulnerabilities, always with kindness and compassion.

Catherine was not just a source of laughter; she was an extraordinary friend. She was the confidante who would listen without judgment, the one who cheered you on during tough times, and the one who always found a way to bring joy to the simplest of moments. Her presence was a comforting reminder that true friendship knows no bounds.

Now, as I navigate through the sorrow of her absence, I am reminded of all the beautiful memories we shared—the laughter, the deep conversations, and the unwavering support. Catherine may no longer be with us, but her spirit, humor, and friendship will forever remain in our hearts.

Thank you, Catherine, for being you. You have left an indelible mark on our lives, and while I miss you dearly, I will always cherish the joy you brought into my world. 💖
