Charles Edward Tindel (known as Ed and Chaz by friends and family) went to be with the Lord on August 27th, 2013, at 12:31pm, surrounded by his family and friends.
Ed was born on October 20th, 1937 in Pittsburg, Kansas. He was the son of Charles Edward Tindel, Sr. and Frances Hanes Tindel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marilyn Tindel Walters and brother-in-law Bill Walters. He is survived by his brother, Jack Tindel, and sister-in-law, Darlene Tindel, and nephew Ken Seibert and his wife Donna Seibert. He is also survived by the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Norma Ledet Tindel, and children Bobby Tindel and Karen Tindel, Rachel Tindel Kahane and
Steve Kahane, Susan Tindel Norman and Jerrie Norman, Rebecca Tindel-Bivens and Scott Bivens, Cathie Dorsett and Bill Dorsett; grandchildren Katie Kahane, Lily Tindel, Samantha and Savannah Bivens, Jude Norman, Jenifer and Ryan Dorsett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Ed grew up in Kansas, Ohio, and Illinois and was a life-long Ohio State University fan. He served our country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958-1962. He taught his children and grandchildren the value and price of freedom. He attended the University of Iowa and received a degree in accounting from the University of Houston. Ed adored his family and friends and was beloved by everyone he met. We’ll miss his smile, his laugh, and his corny jokes.
The family would also like to add that they are very grateful to Dad’s cardiologist, Dr. Randeep Suneja, his assistant, Sanjay Sharma, and their entire staff, for their excellent patience and understanding with him while he was in their care; his life was extended and the quality enhanced by their efforts.
Funeral services will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church on Friday, August 30th, 2013. The visitation will begin at 10:00am, followed by the funeral at 11:00am. Lunch will be served afterward in the church Community Center for some fellowship and a celebration of Ed’s life.
In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make a donation in Ed’s name to the American Heart Association.
