My Sister, Lupe Sustaita Miranda, ran in a Fund Raising Beauty Queen Contest, representing Guadalupe Catholic Church. She received good patronage from the Church Members and her family, however, she got 4th place standing. She was a natural beauty with large eyes and long eye lashes, lovely fair skin and a friendly personality.
We were close sisters, she being 4 years older than me. We’d get together on our front porch every Saturday evening and sing every song on the Hit Parade that week. Lupe was a loving respectful daughter to our parents. She began to work at the early age of 15 at the local Pharmacy as our parents had 8 children. Well 9, but the first one died at the age of 3. I loved my Sister very much and looked up to her as an exemplary mother. She devoted her life to her family. May you rest in peace, my dearest Sister, Lupe. May we all join together as family in Heaven once again.
