Helen Stasiak Wolny

Helen Stasiak Wolny, 98, passed away on November 13, 2023.  She was born on March 14, 1925 in Gut Eichenburg, Kassel, Germany to Katharina and Johann Stasiak.  She had three other siblings.

Helen married Hillary Wolny on June 8, 1947 in Germany. They were married for 29 years until his death in 1976, and had one son, Peter Wolny.  They immigrated to the United States on September 19, 1950.  

Helen worked at Heights Hospital in the Baby Nursery for about 20 years and then at St. Joseph Hospital on the surgical recovery floor for another 20 years until she retired.

Helen loved baking cakes of all kinds, cooking meals that she shared with family and friends, playing Bingo, working in her flower garden, shopping, and attending Polish functions with her friends.  She regularly attended All Saints and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hillary Wolny; mother, Katharina Stasiak; father, Johann Stasiak; sisters, Sophie Thiele and Martha Buhle; and brother, Johann Stasiak.  

She is survived by her son, Peter Wolny and wife Ann Wolny; grandchildren, Larry Wolny, Christie Ybarbo & husband David, and Michael Wolny; great-grandchildren, Michael Wolny Jr. and Matthew Wolny; and several nephews and nieces in Germany.

Visitation will be from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Monday, November 20, 2023 in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery at 1:00 PM.

We all loved Helen so much. She was such a good friend to my parents, Mitchell and Helen Cirzewski, and helped them as much as she could as they got older. She was blessed with good health always. Even near the end, her mind was sharp and she had great memories . She will be missed. X2YH f

Ms. Wolny was a sweet woman who loved God. I remember her kind and loving words to me when I visited her in the mornings. I believe you are finally with the Lord, Ms Wolny. You will be missed by all of us who cared so much for you.
