Jacqueline (Jackie) Moore, age 75, was born on July 1, 1949, in Blind River, Canada. She passed into the Spirit World peacefully on September 20, 2024, at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas, after a five-year battle with bile duct cancer. She was comforted in her final moments by her daughter, Tiffanee Buffalo, and her former daughter-in-law, Demetrius Wemigwans. Jackie had lived in Houston since the age of 16, where she made a full and impactful life.
Jackie had a passion for nursing and caring for others. She began her career at Job Corps in Michigan, where she earned her nursing certification. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Houston with her best friend, Patricia Hardy, to pursue her calling as a nurse. Nursing became her lifelong passion, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to helping those in need with kindness and compassion.
Jackie is survived by her loving children: Calvin Wemigwans, Rodney Moore, and Tiffanee Buffalo. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Calvin Wemigwans Jr., Nikita Wemigwans, Gery Wemigwans, Aashia Wemigwans, Renesher Moore, Jade Moore, Brianna Buffalo, Brayden Buffalo, and Tyler Wemigwans. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jean Rita Wagosh (Cockburn Island, First Nation) and Isadore Wemigwans (Wiikwemkoong First Nation), and her brother, Tom Wemigwans. Jackie is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Marlene Joanne Little, Wilford Wemigwans, Barbara Jean and James Wemigwans.
Jackie will be remembered as a hardworking, funny, kind-hearted, and caring woman who brought love and light to all those around her. Her dedication to nursing and helping others made her a beloved figure to family, friends, and those she cared for throughout her career.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 3, at Beresford Funeral Home. Visitation starts at 10AM and the funeral will start at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Carmen Nelson Bostick Historic Cemetery (12317 Holderfrieth Rd, Tomball, TX 77375). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help honor Jackie’s memory and support her family at GoFundMe.
