José Francisco Ortis was born in San Benito, Texas on January 29, 1951 to Genaro Ortiz Vargas and Sofia Nunez Flores as the oldest of six children and passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024 in his home in Richmond, Texas.
José Francisco had two children, Ian F. Ortis and Penelope Ortis Navarrete from his first marriage. In 1992, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Gough and they married on November 23,
José Francisco is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Ortis; his two children, Ian Ortis and Penelope Navarrete and her husband, Alex Navarrete of Katy, TX; two grandchildren, Jonathan Navarrete and Amira D. Gonzalez; and his siblings, Genaro Ortiz, Virginia Ortiz, Raquel (Kelly), and Dinora.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Genaro Ortiz Vargas and Sofia Nunez Flores, and his brother Juan Lorenzo (Lencho).
Services will be held on Thursday, March 28 at 11:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (9950 S. Mason Rd., Richmond, TX 77406). Burial will follow at Forest Park Southwest Cemetery (9040 FM 359 Rd, Richmond, TX 77406).
