In Memory of
Kristina Rae Barrett
-

Many lives are lived, but some are lived to the fullest. Kristina Rae Barrett took Jesus seriously as He said in John 10:10 that He came to give incredible life—real life lived to the utmost. She trusted in Him to deliver her from the penalty of sin so she can have everlasting life. She trusted in Him to deliver her from the power of sin so she can have incredible life.

On June 21, 2014, at the age of 12, Kristina trusted in Jesus to deliver her from the presence of sin so she can spend that everlasting life with Him. She passed from this earth while in her home surrounded by her family.

Born on May 30, 2002, Kristina was a spunky and cheerful girl who loved to draw, color, make crafts, dance, sing, and make people happy. One day she prayed that God would show her His amazing power. And that power of our amazing God began to be expressed when she was diagnosed with cancer on August 23, 2010.

Over the next 4 years, Kristina inspired thousands with her faith in her heavenly Father. By His grace she overcame surgeries, chemotherapies, and clinical trials. Even in her last days on earth when she knew her cancer was spreading, her very words were, “If this is God’s plan for me, then I accept it.”

The angels ushered Kristina into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 8:47am. Her family was with her. They include her parents, Chad and Melissa Barrett, her siblings, Jonathan, Caroline, and Katherine Barrett. Her grandparents were there: Don and Angela Barrett of Dry Creek, LA, and Ray and Gaynel Shawa of Lake Charles, LA. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Jason and Charlene Shawa of Canton, GA, Jeff and Kristi Bellard of Lafayette, LA, Jason and Melanie Bell of Lake Charles, LA, and Michael and Nikki Barrett of Kingwood, TX. Along with those aunts and uncles, she enjoyed the friendship of 5 wonderful cousins.

Memorial services for Kristina are Friday, June 27, 2014, at Kingwood Bible Church in Kingwood, TX at 6:00pm, and on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Hamilton Christian Academy in Lake Charles, LA at 2:00pm. A graveside service will be at the Dry Creek Cemetery in Dry Creek, LA.

In honor of Kristina's favorite colors, the family would like to invite guests to wear purple and/or blue to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be given to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Greater Houston (www.CEFHouston.org) and/or Camp Pearl (www.CampPearl.com).

Through her battle Kristina proved the overpowering truth that we all must embrace: Our God is Bigger!

Dear Chad, Melissa, Jonathan, Caroline and Katherine,

There are no words to adequately express how much we ache for each of you. May there be comfort in the knowledge that Kristina is with Jesus dancing, singing, happy in knowing our Lord face to face. We will continue to surround all of you in prayer asking for His peace and comfort to blanket each of you in the coming weeks and months. Her bright eyes, her beauty and happy spirit will never be forgotten. Sending much love to all of you, Peggy for the entire family

We worship a Loving Father and a Living Savior! He who began a good work in Kristina finished that work when He ushered her into His very Presence! There is no doubt she heard, "Well done, my good and faithful servant!" What a Glorious Day it will be when we walk through those Gates and are welcomed by the Host of Heaven of which Kristina is now one! Until that day, we will occupy until He comes... remembering her through the multitude of examples she gave of loving her Savior. One of our great blessings on earth is to have known Kristina! Thank you for sharing! We love you all!

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family as you mourn the loss of her earthly presence and celebrate the home going of her spirit.
We have been greatly blessed by the ministries of your family and was glad that we had just a glimpse of your little sunshine in this life!
We know that God has each of you in the palm of His hand.
He is always with us!

Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

To the family of Kristina,

It is with great sadness that I post a tribute to your precious loved one. My heart breaks at your loss, but at the same time, I know that you are celebrating her beautiful life, and that she is pain free and being her beautiful sweet self as she brightens the day of each person she has met in heaven. She will truly be sitting at the right hand of our Father, as He provides each of you His peace, grace, mercy and strength.

With much love and respect,

Patty McWhirter

To Bro. Don and Family of Kristina,
Our hearts go out to you at this time of loss. Although we did not know Kristina, we have heard much about her and are inspired by her faith and courage. We love Bro. Don deeply and have so much respect for him. It is our honor and privilege to have a part in the graveside service honoring and celebrating the life of Kristina. We have a son, Noah, who is the same age as Kristina. He is away at camp in Arkansas and has extended prayers to Kristina and your family with his 980 fellow campers.
Again, we express our deepest sorrow to all of you and admire the faith and love you are passing on to others around you even at your time of loss. God Bless You All!
With Love and Prayers!
