He lived in the Houston area and Fort Bend County his entire life.  Russell is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Reichardt, his children, Brian Reichardt and his wife Jodie of Sugar Land, Texas and Robert Reichardt and his wife Tammy of Rocksprings, Texas. Russell has 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, his brother William “Bill” Reichardt and his wife Nancy of Fulshear, Texas, and his sister Patsy Koenig and her husband Randy of Katy, Texas. He has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Beresford Funeral Home, which is located at 13501 Alief Clodine Road, Houston, Texas 77082 on Thursday, June 12 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, immediately followed by the funeral service which will be from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.  Interment will be at Morton Cemetery, which is located at 401 N. 2nd Street, Richmond, Texas 77469 at 2:00 pm.

Russell played pony league baseball, junior high football at Pershing Junior High, and high school football at Bellaire High School.  He also played softball in the church league sponsored by the Houston Chronicle.  He attended Texas Tech University and the University of Houston.

Russell was employed in the petrochemical industry for over 30 years. After retirement he liked to travel, and spend time with his family.  He was a cruise enthusiast and took many cruises.

In his youth, Russell was a member of Second Christian Church, where he was active in Christian Endeavor. After moving to Fort Bend County, he attended Western Meadows Christian Church and Providence Christian Church, where he was a deacon and then an elder.  While there he taught Sunday school classes and adult Bible studies.  Presently he is a member of Oak Lake Baptist Church.

Russell was the scoutmaster for Sam Houston Area Council’s Troop 1852.  During his time as scoutmaster at least 17 scouts achieved the rank of Eagle.  He led trips to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and to Florida Sea Base in the Florida Keys, as well as numerous summer camps and canoe trips on nearby rivers.

The family is grateful for the wonderful care he received from the staff of Aaryn Hospice and the staff of Pathways at Landon Ridge.  Thank you for your kindness and assistance, without which we would have been lost.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
