Samuel Jimenez Salinas

Samuel Jimenez Salinas passed away peacefully on October 27, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 68. A dedicated father, husband, brother, uncle and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Tammy; his daughters, Jenafer and Journey; his son Jeremiah; his siblings Saul, Sandra, Saqueo and Santiago; 5 grandchildren, Logan, Eli, Christianna, Jeremah, and Jay’vihion; and 2 great grandchildren Nova and Zyion. 

Sammy was born February 7, 1954 in Raymondville, TX to Raymundo Garcia Salinas and Lucia Jimenez Salinas. He spent his childhood in “The Valley” and went on to attend college at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX. Following his studies, Sammy went on to join the U.S Army in 1977 where he worked as a 71D Legal Clerk. He spent half of his military career serving his country overseas in Germany before his honorable discharge in 1981. Throughout his military career he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, an Army Service Ribbon and an Overseas Service Ribbon. He additionally earned the Sharpshooter Badge for M-16 Rifle and the Expert Badge for Hand Grenade.  As a Veteran, Sammy pursued a career in I.T. until his retirement in 2016. 

Family meant everything to Sammy. He was revered as a pillar of strength for those he loved most and was known for his frequent calls to check in or just have a good chat. He was an avid fisherman, talented artist, and old western movie enthusiast. Sammy had a passion for cooking and was a food connoisseur. A sarcastic and witty comedian, he always had the best jokes to share and could be counted on for a good laugh. He was soft spoken and boisterous. He was protective and loyal. He was many things to many people and will be dearly missed by all.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 11 am to 1 pm in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service.  The ashes will then be interred at Houston National Cemetery at 2:15 pm.
