
Steven “Taz” Benoit – dedicated and loving father of three and friend to many- passed away on October 12, 2022 at the age of 64 in Houston, TX
Steve was born to Norman Andrew Benoit and Thelma Louise Peyton in Beaumont, Texas on September 12, 1958. As a child, he lived all over Louisiana, before settling in Houston, TX and graduating from Westbury High School in 1976. After high school, he enlisted into the United States Army and completed his basic training at Fort Knox, KY. He was then stationed to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was medically discharged after injuries suffered in an accident. He would go on to receive an Associate's Degree in electronics and worked at Texas Instruments and Alpha Circuits. Steve was married to Diana Lynn Carter for 15 years, in which time they had three sons, Joshua in 1987, Jeremy in 1990, and Matthew in 1992.
Through the years, Steve enjoyed spending time with his sons fishing, attending sporting events, and many other activities. Steve never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Steve was dedicated to his family and an inspiration to those in his life.
After retiring, Steve pursued a life of travel, taking many cruises and visiting many places around the world. When he wasn’t traveling, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his four grandchildren- Luke, Jonathon, Ethan, and Isla.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Thelma, as well as his brothers Richard and Norman, and his sister Linda Ann. He is survived by his 3 children, Joshua, Jeremy, Matthew, his “other sons” Geoff and Greg, his brother Harold, his four grandchildren, Luke, Jon Jon, Ethan, and Isla, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
