Wayne A. Friery

Wayne Allen Friery, 76, passed away peacefully in the hospital on May 7, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 10, 1945 in Houston, Texas to Roland C. Friery and Doris E. (Smith) Friery.

Wayne graduated from Reagan High School in Houston in 1963 and graduated from Houston Baptist University with degrees in Sociology and Christianity in 1971. In the middle of his college years at HBU he was called to serve our country and enlisted in the United States Air Force and did so honorably as a Sergeant in Security Police until 1968.  Wayne, after over 40 years in the safety field, retired from Atlantic Plant Maintenance (GE) after 10 years in 2009 and continued his Safety Consulting business in Houston.  He compiled resource books for General Industry and Construction, “5-Minute Safety Thinker.”  

Wayne loved the Lord and especially enjoyed attending Congregation Beth Messiah, reading the Word and intercessory prayer.  He loved his family, his neighbors and friends and making apple pies and jam.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Janice Jeanne (Moloney) Friery and their two sons; Michael Wayne Friery, and wife Vicky Lorraine (Thomason) Friery of Fort Walton Beach Florida; Terry Michael Bernard of Houston; four grandchildren Rebecca, Wayne, Leah, Christian, and three  nephews, Steve and Matt Friery, Bryan Moloney and niece, Carrie Moran.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Roland Curtis Friery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Beresford Funeral Home, on Monday, May 17, 2021. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Congregation Beth Messiah, 9001 West Airport Blvd, Houston, 770071. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive , Houston, 77038.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in his name be made to Israel Benevolence Fund, P.O. Box 710513, Houston 77271.

Our family is so thankful for our loving and faithful Heavenly Father for all His love, provision and blessing and we thank our CBM family for all their love and support.  Also, thanks to Wayne’s caregivers, neighbors and friends who have been so supportive, loving and helpful.

Wayno was Henry’s brother from another mother! Lol
