In Memory of
Anna Jo Walsh
-

Anna Jo Walsh passed away February 22, 2013 in Houston, Texas. She was born December 16, 1947 in Tyler, Texas to Ralph and Iwana Hager.

Anna Jo was an avid reader and enjoyed all kinds of puzzles. She was also a very talented painter and artist. Her grandchildren were the love of her life and she always looked forward to spending time with her friends and family. Her fondest memories were traveling home to Tyler to celebrate Christmas with the entire family every year.

Later in life she found her true calling and dedicated her remaining years to working with the blind. She was passionate about her career at DARS and ministering to blind children. She loved volunteering with sleepovers at the zoo, Easter egg hunts, sharing her love of painting and countless other events. When she was not spending time with these precious children she could be found rocking babies in the nursery at Fellowship Church.

She is survived by her 3 daughters; Stephanie Bourn and husband Kyle, Susan Quezada and husband Steve and Samantha Walsh. She is also survived by her brother George Hager and wife Cecilia and sister Patsy Trice and husband Mike. She leaves behind 4 grandchildren; Blaine Bourn, Jake Quezada, Graham Bourn and John Quezada.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years William R. Walsh, her parents Ralph and Iwana Hager and her son John Walsh.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday March 2, 2013 at 2:00pm at Copperfield Church.

Untitled

In memory of my mother
You were a precious gift from God above,
so much beauty, grace and love.
You touched our hearts in so many ways,
your smile so bright even on the bad days.
You heard God's whisper calling you home,
you didn't want to go and leave us alone.
You loved us so much, you held on tight,
till all the strength was gone and you could no longer fight.
He had called your name twice before,
you knew you couldn't make him wait anymore.
So you gave your hand to God and slowly drifted away,
knowing that with our love we will be together again some day.

Boy howdy she sure did love working with the blind kiddos! She and Darlene were ALWAYS the first to volunteer for every event...even if it meant sleeping on the floor at the zoo! Anna, I am a better person to have had you in my life and you will be missed more than you can ever imagine. Thank you for all the laughter you brought to my world. I will always hear you in my head when I do something not so bright saying..."Jennifer, what the hell were you thinking?" Love you so very much! Thoughts, prayers and love to all of Anna's family!

What can I say about one of my best friends. She was fiesty and loved doing new things and just enjoyed life no matter what hand it dealt her. She loved her daughters & grandsons more than life it self. She listened to me when I had troubles and always made me laugh, she told me like it was and didn't sugar coat it. I know she had lots of love in life, from friends, family, Sharon & Jerry were her life long friends. My love, my prayers go to her family and to "Girl" & Jerry as I know this is a tough time for you too. God Bless.

I am so very sorry that she is gone. Anna was the first person I knew when I started working in rehab for a private vendor. She basically taught me everything I needed to know. We both moved on and after years of badgering, I "recruited" her away from the Dial's and she became my rehab assistant. Anna found her true passion when she started working with children who are blind. She was a wonderul soul who always had a smile on her face no matter what. I will miss you Anna Banana!

I worked with Anna by phone since she was in Dallas & I was in the Ft Worth office. She was always a great help to me when I had a question. I loved her laughter & her feisty personality - needless to say, she will be missed by many. My thoughts & prayers are with her family.

Anna had the biggest heart of anyone I know! A beuatiful, caring woman, who had a fantastic sense of humor and just loved her family and treated everyone well. We will all miss her so, so much. Anna, you are a jewel in heaven now and whenever I think of you I'll think of your laugh and a big smile will come across my face. All of Anna's family, you are in our thoughts and prayers!

Wasn't at DARS long when I met Anna. Just loved being around her on our lunch breaks. The word "feisty" was used often to describe her. I feel that she had that gift to tell it like it is and she was interested in people, in seeing that things were done right in life, ... and people cared for. A generous and caring spirit with a great personality - I'll miss her very much! CC

Anna...what a beautiful name with such rich history, as this is the name of Mother's Mary's mother...and yes, her heart was an incredible reflection of this heavenly name...never was there a time that I stopped by her desk that she didn't share joy, laughter, encouragement, and even a tear if you were sitting there sharing a sad story about one of our precious clients suffering through the initial tragedy of losing their sight...we also shared the sorrow and joys of having sons with disabilities...

sharing personal and professional life with Anna was such a joy...she exemplified strength when tested beyond measure...loved her family with all her heart...enjoyed her bobble-heads sitting all thru her cubicle...and when life handed her a challenge she walked the journey with faith and grace that only a child of God can walk...she is now with both of our sons, her sweet husband of 44 years, and more than anything, our precious Lord who opened the gates of heaven with an eternal "welcome home!" Yes, she will be missed by those who knew and loved Anna most, yet always know that in heaven she is now your angel praying each & every day for comfort and blessings to heal your sorrow....with love and many good memories...love you Anna...Sonja
