William M. Rowe, more commonly known as Bill (Skid) Rowe, passed away in Houston, Texas on July 4, 2026 at the age of 77. He was born in McAllen, Texas on June 28, 1949, to William C. Rowe & Melba (West) Rowe.
Bill is survived by his only daughter, Jessica Brasher and grandson Rex Brasher both of Austin, Texas; also, his sister Patti Clevinger and brother-in-law, John Clevinger, Niece Grayson Dorr and husband David T. Dorr, grand nieces, Adeline and AnneMarie, all of Houston. Bill also has numerous cousins, Army-buddies, band members and close friends, including his long-term girlfriend, Darlla Baker, of Round Rock, Texas.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing music and teaching guitar lessons. Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam war and served in active duty from 1966 to 1969.
After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, he pursued his musical career playing guitar, writing music and traveling with various groups throughout the US. Some years later, he devoted his time to teach guitar from jazz to classical to all ages.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, outgoing personality and "funny" sense of humor. He will surely be missed.
Bill will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038) at 1:15pm on Monday, July 20, 2026. Those wishing to attend should arrive no earlier than 1:00pm and line up in lane #2. At precisely 1:15pm, the cemetery representative will lead us in our cars to his appointed shelter for the committal service.
