In Memory of
Norman L. Hobbs Sr.
-

Norman Lynn Hobbs Sr., 75, of Guy, Texas gently passed away at home Monday, February 3rd, after an extended illness. He was a loving husband and father, and the best Paw Paw a child could have.

He was born April 8, 1944 in Wharton, TX to Q.D. and Sarah “Dolly” Hobbs and graduated from Wharton High School. He married his love, Colette Wallis Hobbs in 1964 and they raised a close-knit family. After working for Goodyear, Norman went on to a career with Dow Chemical until his retirement in 1997. His happiest moments were spent outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping at the Frio River with family. He was mechanically inclined and loved tinkering around in the barn, working on whatever needed attention, and especially enjoyed time spent with his sons and the mud racing truck.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents Q.D. and Dolly Hobbs, wife’s parents Tommy and Lillie Wallis, daughter Shawn Hobbs Sheppard, brother Harold, and infant sister Virginia.  He is survived by his devoted wife Colette, sister Sybil Kacer & husband Ray, children Norman Jr. & wife Holley, Nicole Mehrens & husband Ray, Jason Hobbs & wife Kodelle, son in law Perry Sheppard, beloved grandchildren Cody, Katelynn, Laney & Landen Hobbs, Zackary Smith, SPC Garrett Smith, Nolan Sheppard, Mandi Ditto (Hank), Jack Mehrens (Jessica), Charlie Mehrens, Jessica Durbin (Donald), great grandchildren Macie, Delainey, McKenzie, Madi, & Kendal, extended family Belinda & Rick Straznicky, Thomas & Susan Wallis, Vit & Sandra Wallis, and numerous nieces & nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Saturday, February 8th, at Creekside Christian Fellowship, 16628 Hwy 36, Needville, TX. The family will receive visitors beginning at 2pm, with refreshments following the service.

Norman’s family would like to give special thanks to Encompass Home Hospice, Pastor Greg Garcia, and Beresford Funeral Service for their care and compassion. For those wishing, donations may be made to St. Jude and Salvation Army Fort Bend in lieu of flowers.
