In Memory of
Rudolph Abraham Nunez
-

Rudolph “Rudy” Abraham Nunez transitioned into glory on July 21, 2018.  He was the 7th of 9 children, born on April 27, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas.

Rudy grew up in the Hiram Clarke neighborhood of Houston, Texas and graduated from Madison High School.  He had a close-knit group of friends growing up but never met a stranger.  He met and married his first wife, Terri, and they had three children together.  It was his ex sister-in-law, “Roni”, who introduced him to the love of his life, his wife, Sandra Nunez.  He gained two wonderful children in his second marriage.  Rudy and Sandra remained happily married with close bonds to their five children until his passing.

Rudy was a true-blue Oilers and Texans football fan and looked forward to football season every year.  He loved listening to music, especially Lynyrd Skynyrd and the great classic rock bands, Mo-Town, classic country and Tejano.  He enjoyed dancing, shooting pool, playing dominoes, darts, spades, and going to concerts.  He was an amazing husband and father, and the most loving grandfather.  He had a beautiful heart and was extremely generous, always willing to lend a helping hand.  He was a hard worker who passed his great work ethic to his children.  Rudy was effortlessly funny and a great story teller - and he was fearless - he feared no one except God - and often encouraged his children to be the same way.

He is spiritually reunited with his father, Florentino “Floyd” Nunez, his mother, Carmen Nunez, his brother, Ruben Nunez, his son, Floyd Nunez, and many other loved ones.

He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra and his children: Jennifer Nunez Mindiola and husband Paul, Stephanie Nunez-Hobson and husband Lee, Rudolph “Woods” Nunez II and wife Tanya, Eric Hernandez and wife Kathya, and Lysseht Arevalo and husband Edwin.  He was the proud grandfather of Calysta Raine, Jesus Eleazar, Isis Amara, Dominyck Stone, Noah Abraham, Cain Jonah, Sophia Camila, Jacob Eric, and Camila Victoria, while looking forward to becoming a great-grandfather to Elijah Reign for the first time.  Rudy is also survived by his siblings, Florentino “Floyd” Nunez, Jr. and wife, Delores, Antonio “Tony” Nunez and wife, Linda, Rosemary Cortez and husband, Roel, Angelita Arredondo and husband, Emmitt, Mario Nunez and wife, Sandra, Carla Chapa and husband, Joseph, Patricia Alvarez and husband, Jose, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and those he considered extended family.

A memorial service will be held for Rudy at Beresford Funeral Home, located at 13501 Alief Clodine Road, Houston, Texas 77082, on Saturday, July 28, 2018.  The visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon with the funeral service following visitation.  Upon commencement of the funeral service, a reception will follow immediately and be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8790, located at 1560 Foley Street, Houston, Texas 77055.

My beloved husband, the gates of Heaven are open to receive you; even though here on Earth you left a void and immense pain.

I count with certainty and faith that today is not farewell, but a see you later, our Celestial Father will reunite us once again.

Rest in peace.

Your wife, Sandra

I knew Rudy all of my life not only as a close friend of my brother's growing up but like family to all of us. He always greeted us with a warm smile. When my son was a baby he didn't just go to anyone but Rudy made him feel at ease and before you knew it he was on Rudy's shoulders. For that alone, I thank you and the Vasquez family will not say goodbye we will say see you later and we look forward to reminiscing with you.
