He graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1956 with a B.A. in Business Management. He was a first Lieutenant in the army and served one tour in Korea and the Phillipines during the Korean War. He married Patricia Ann Biles on November 15th, 1952 and had three sons, William A. Ross Jr, Thomas A. Ross and Robert A. Ross.

Mr. Ross worked for Shell Oil Company for 31 years in the finance and treasury departments before retiring in 1992. During his tenure with Shell Oil, the family lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Boulder, Colorado and New York City, New York before moving to Houston, Texas in 1970.

He is preceded in death by his parents Edgar B Ross and Ann Bell Ross along with a brother Edgar B. Ross Jr., by his first wife, Patricia Ann Ross, and two sons, William A. Ross Jr. and Thomas A. Ross

In 1997 he married Catherine (Cathy) O’Day and enjoyed 15 years of happy marriage. He is survived by his wife Cathy O’Day Ross, a son, Robert A. Ross, a brother, Alan B. Ross of Tulsa, Oklahoma and a sister, Cynthia Ross Cockerham of Birmingham, Alabama.
He had a love of life and was always seen as the life of the party. He loved people and he loved his family. He was a wonderful and faithful husband and an example of life to his son.

He always had a good word for anyone who came across his path. His nature was to help people whenever he could. Though he had no adopted children, most of his children’s friends felt that closeness to him; he will be greatly missed by one and all. I have so many memories of practicly growing up in Bill's house with so many happy people around. Laughter was always abundant.
He was a very quiet man but made sure that you knew that he cared for you and that was always a special feeling for me.
My heart is heavy and my love is with Robert and Cathy at this very sad time.
Eric and I send our love and hold you both in our prayers.

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. This is one of the most difficult things we must face in this life. May it comfort you to know that others are deeply touched by your loss. But the bible assures us at Psalms 34:18 that God is near to those broken in heart and those crushed in spirit he saves. He also promises that we will be able to see our loved ones again. Jesus own words found at John 5:28,29 tells us there will be a resurrection. What a wonderful hope! He also promises that soon on the earth there will be no more pain, suffering and especially death. Revelation 21:3-5 We anxiously await the day when we will no longer lose those we love. May these bible thoughts bring you comfort at this most difficult time.

Dear Robert,
Every time I met your dad, I walked away knowing that I had been with a really good guy. I recall him always smiling and quiet. You carry his smile, a gift given to you from our Lord as a way of taking the memory of your dad into your future days. We hurt not for him, he is so much in a better place, but for you. I know you will miss him for years to come. Bless you and your family during these difficult days.

Dear Robert and Cathy,
My sincere condolences on your loss. I hope it will make it easier to bear knowing that others are missing Bill, too.

I remember as a teenager spending many summer afternoons at the pool at your house. There were always plenty of kids and right in the middle was Bill....the biggest kid of all...making sure we all had a good time. A particular favorite memory is how he always wanted to know our favorite sodas or wine coolers so he could stock the fridge.

Bill was a man who loved his wife and sons. He took pride in the fact that his home was the one everybody liked to hang out in. He never complained about the noise.

I know many people with fond memories of your father and husband are thinking of you at this time. I hope it brings you comfort to know he touched so many people.
Susan

Cathy, I have never met you but my heart goes out to you during this most difficult time. To Bobby, even though I have not seen Uncle Bill in such a long time,I have fond memories of cookouts with all us cousins together, with Uncle Bill manning the grill, my Dad of course supervising, Aunt Pat keeping us kids in line, and my Mom diligently searching for a bug that had flown into the salad bowl! But my fondest memeroy is of a Xmas we all spent together. We were all so young, and you were our sweet Bobby, having so much fun riding the hobby horse. You are still my "Sweet Bobby" and I am here for you

Robert,
I don't think I ever met your dad, but everyone describes him in terms of gentleness, kindness, and thinking of others. You have these same qualities and knowing this, you will walk through life remembering these qualities in your dad. Now I understand what makes you so special. All of us who love you will either be with you or thinking of you during this time of loss. We love you!
