In Memory of
Anita Schulz Briggs
-

Anita Briggs, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, in Spring, Texas, just one day after celebrating her 85th birthday.

Anita was born on April 29, 1940, in Sülzbach-Obersulm, Germany. In 1959, at the age of 19, she left her homeland along with her baby, Gaby, and made a new life in the United States. It was here that she found her greatest joy—raising her five children. She often described those years as the most rewarding of her life, and she poured her heart into her family with unwavering devotion and love.

In addition to her devotion to family, Anita was a gifted and passionate crafter, known especially for her exquisite crocheting and knitting. For many years, she lovingly created hats, socks, and blankets for newborns, donating them to local hospitals in Houston. Her hands were rarely still, always working to bring comfort and warmth to others—often to babies she would never meet. Through each carefully stitched piece, Anita shared her kindness and generosity, leaving a legacy of care that touched countless lives in her community.

Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Briggs (1987), her daughters Sherry Anderson (1998) and Tina Marx (2005), and her grandson Kevin Anderson (2023) and her sister, Irmie LeDoux (2024). Despite these deep losses, she remained a pillar of strength and grace for her family.

She is survived by her loving daughter Gaby Shultz (and husband Luis Garcia), her sons Michael Nutter and Alexander Briggs (and wife Rachel Briggs), her brother, Helmut Heidrich (and wife Rita Heidrich) nine cherished grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom carry forward her legacy of resilience, warmth, and compassion.

Anita will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her quiet strength, and the deep love she had for her family. Her life was a testament to perseverance, and her memory will be treasured by all who knew her.

A Graveside Service will be held at Forest Park Cemetery in Houston on Tuesday, May 6th at 11 am to honor her life.
