
Darlene Jean Nippert McClure, 83, passed away on March 22, 2025, in Katy, TX. She was born on September 11, 1941, in Houston, Texas, to Henry Allen Nippert & Gladys Nan Hoofnagle Nippert.
Darlene graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, TX, in 1960. In 1963, Darlene married her high school sweetheart, Hugh Cameron McClure. She worked for Richmond Tank Car and Charter Oil of Houston and years later, for The Herb Farm in Dayton, TX. She also attended Lee College in Baytown, TX.
In 1977, Darlene, Hugh, and their two sons, Allen and Jody, moved from Highlands to Kenefick, TX, where Darlene and Hugh lived until 2022, when they moved to Richmond, TX. After Hugh’s passing on January 24, 2024, Darlene moved to the Atria Senior Living Center in Katy, TX.
Darlene was an outdoor gardener, an avid painter, and loved shopping and spending time in Fredericksburg, TX. She enjoyed cooking for her family and at Thanksgiving, everyone would come and enjoy a huge family meal. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dayton, TX, and often spoke of her deer friends in the Sunday school class.
Darlene is survived by her two sons, Allen and wife Pam of Pittsboro, NC, and Jody and wife Michele of Richmond, TX; 5 grandchildren, Sarah, David, Hannah, Tyler, and Kaelynn. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerry Nippert, and husband Hugh.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the Palms Memorial Park at 2421 N Hwy 146, Dayton, TX.
Flowers can be sent to Beresford Funeral Service (13501 Alief Clodine Rd, Houston, TX 77082) by noon on Friday, March 28th.
