Elias M. Jarrouje was born in Martmoura Qobaiyat, Lebanon September 11,1941, and passed away in Houston, Texas on May 1, 2024.
Elias moved to Kuwait at a young age where he worked for the Public Works Authority and wrote short articles for an Arabic magazine. Elias helped lay the first stone for the Holy Family Catholic Cathedral in Kuwait where he met his beloved wife, Alice Shahwan. He also facilitated bringing the Rosary Sisters (Rahbat Al Wardiyi) to the only Catholic private school in Kuwait. Their three children, Marlaine, Magdoline, and Tony were all born in Kuwait and attended Fajer Al-Sabah School. Each summer Elias would take his family back to Qobaiyat where many fond memories were created. In the 1980's Elias moved first to Beirut and then to Cyprus, where he welcomed two son-in-laws, Isam Shahwan and Dudley Reynolds, into his family. In 1990 he and Alice immigrated to the U.S. where they settled in San Antonio near Magdoline, Isam, and their grandson Clemone. In 1994, Alice passed. Elias later moved to Houston where he continued to live near his daughter and her family. His joy in life was planting any seed he came across and most of all his mint.
Elias is survived by his son, Tony Jarrouge, daughters, Marlaine Reynolds, and Magdoline Shahwan, grandchildren, Clemone Shahwan, Alexander Reynolds, and Camille Reynolds, brother, Joseph and sisters, Amira, Jamileh, and Josephine.
Elias is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Shahwan, brother, Habib, sisters, Marin and Ghasibeh, and parents, Mtanios Jarrouje and Marya Antoun.
