Jacqulyn (Jackie) Ann Landry Gabel, age 90, passed away on May 21, 2024, after a brief hospital stay in Houston, Texas.
She was born on February 26th, 1934 in New Orleans to Edward and Ellen Landry. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Clark Gabel.
Jackie is survived by her children, daughter Kim Epley and late husband, Bill. Her son Frank Gabel and his wife Kathy. Her grandchildren Elyse Marcus and husband Matt and Natalie Kline and husband, Josh. Her great grandchildren, Maxwell and Mila Marcus and Kroy and Copper Kline. She is also survived by her brother, David Landry and wife, Yvonne, and her sister Cindy Condoure and husband Robert. She is also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, her great nieces, her fun loving cousins and many wonderful friends.
In 1974, Jackie and Clark moved to Houston to start a new chapter in their lives. They enjoyed traveling near and far and had many memorable adventures. Jackie became a very proficient tennis player and enjoyed her Texas friends. At age 50, Jackie decided to go back to school and got her LVN nursing degree. She worked in this field for 10 years. After Clark’s death in 2002 her childhood roots brought her closer to home and brought her to Picayune, Mississippi, which is where they planned on retiring, she decided to carry out their plan. She was elated to be closer to her siblings and had numerous friends that she reconnected with.
If you were fortunate enough to know Jackie, you had a true friend and your days were made better with her love, support, positive spirit and laughter, as well as her classy style. She was involved with her church and was a member of the ladies auxiliary. Her card and garden club friends were dear to her, she also loved to cook and entertain and love on everyone she met. Jackie took pride in gardening and enjoyed the beauty of her yard.
She was the perfect Mom, to more people than just her children and will be missed dearly!
Services will be held on Thursday, July 11th at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Picayune, Mississippi.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., funeral mass at 11:00 with a luncheon to follow.
Interment will be held at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, La. At 3:30 pm.
